I am Bharat Goel, a doctoral fellow in Economics at IIM Calcutta. I have defended my doctoral thesis and will start working as a Senior Research Fellow (Postdoc) at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance, Munich from June 2018.

I have pursued a doctorate in Economics under the guidance of Professor Arijit Sen [ https://www.iimcal.ac.in/users/arijitsen ].
I have defended my doctoral dissertation titled “Contests between Unequal Opponents: Three Explorations”. My dissertation enquires into the nature and consequences of (bilateral) conflicts between a priori unequal opponents in diverse contexts. Three essays present game-theoretic models of conflicts in three different environments, in each of which an a priori weak contestant is pitted against an a priori strong contestant. I have attempted to answer the following kinds of questions in my dissertation:
