Area of Specialization - Marketing
Hi! I joined the program after having spent 15+ years in my corporate career, primarily because I started feeling more & more strongly that I wanted to be an academician and researcher in the Marketing area. Not an easy decision, but I took it, and here I am! We have some of the most incredible Marketing professors at IIMC, and it's been a tough yet enjoyable learning experience. The other aspect, of course, is the delightful peer group one gets in a premier institution like this - I count among my friend and fellow researchers brilliant individuals from diverse backgrounds.
My advisors are Dr. Prashant Mishra, Dr. Ramendra SinghΦ (Joint Chairs) and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, of IIM Calcutta and Professor Rebecca G. Adams of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My present research interest is at the intersection of social psychology and consumer behavior. I am interested in understanding how close relationships impact our behavior as consumers.
I have submitted my thesis in October 2017 and am presently preparing for my final defense (as of 10th March 2018).
As a Ph.D. candidate, it has been a challenging and enriching experience. My guides give me just the right balance of freedom and (light) pressure! While this journey can be lonely and exasperating, it's great to have such a friendly peer-group around to whom I can reach out for help, without the fear of being judged. Some professors, apart from my committee members too, have also been an amazing source of support and strength.
In short, I'm so happy I am here
